The six things that set the price
1. Boat type
This is the biggest single factor. Sailing yachts and catamarans are cheapest to run — little fuel, small crew. Gulets sit in the middle: wide decks and a full crew. Motor yachts deliver speed and interior comfort, and their running costs put them at the top of the range.
2. Length and cabin count
Price does not rise in a straight line with length; it rises faster. A 30-metre yacht is rarely twice the price of a 15-metre one — it is usually several times more, because it means a bigger crew, higher berthing fees and much more fuel.
3. Season

4. Duration
A week does not cost seven times a day. Yachts here are scheduled around weekly charters (usually Saturday to Saturday), so the per-day rate on a short booking is meaningfully higher than on a full week.
5. Crew and service
On a crewed charter the skipper — and, where the yacht carries one, the cook and deckhand — are included in the rate. Bareboat charters on smaller yachts cost less, but you will need a valid sailing licence.
6. Fuel, berthing and provisioning

- Consider a sailing yacht or catamaran: fuel effectively drops out of the budget.
- Fill the boat: the price is per yacht, so going with ten rather than six can cut the per-person cost by a third.
- Look at weekly rather than daily: past three days, the weekly rate is usually the better deal.
- Book early: for July and August, looking in winter gets you both a better price and an actual choice of yacht.
